Why do I blog?
I was challenged recently to think about the question I get asked most frequently pertaining to my blog. I couldn’t really come up with a question I have been asked frequently. However, I did come up with a question I feel like everyone wants to ask but doesn’t.
Why do I blog?
If you’ve read about me a little then you somewhat know my story and how I started blogging. For those of you that haven’t, here’s the shortest ever version of it: I had thought about it multiple times in the past, when I had my son I finally felt like I had a lot to say..Boom! I’m a blogger!
Okay, so there was a little more of a thought process to it than that. Once I
had my little boy found out I was pregnant I started looking up everything pregnancy, baby, ect ect. Ya’ll, pinterest is my google, it is where I go to when I need an answer to anything. And why is that? Because it’s filled with links to blogs that have everyone’s personal experiences.
Advice from a personal experience is unmatched!
I quickly realized through being a mom that I was part of this unspoken community of people that helped each other out and supported one another. People that don’t even know me have helped me through some of the hardest points in my short motherhood journey so far, and they don’t even know it.
Did you actually wrap your head around that? People help and support as many others as they can without even meeting them and without expecting anything in return. I know a lot of people don’t look at it that way. We get distracted by the pretty layouts and graphics and the “fluff” of a website that someone has worked so hard on instead of the depth of what they are doing.
I decided I wanted to give back some of what I have been given. There’s lots of days I feel underqualified, if you will, to be writing about some of the things I write about. That’s okay though because this is my journey and my story. I’m sure there are lots that can relate to at least some of what I’ve wrote. And if not that’s okay because everyone’s story is different.
But, I get to remember my journey through my blog too!
I never realized how many small details that can so easily be forgotten, even about something as important as your child. I can go back and read post from 6 or 9 months ago and think “Oh yeah, I forgot he used to do that!”. It sounds so crazy but it’s true. My blog is not just for everyone else but for me too.
I’m capturing experiences forever through my writing. This holds more than just that one visual moment a picture captures. This holds the details and the emotions of all the things we went through. That is the priceless part of this blog to me.
So, that’s why I blog.
Preserving our story and encouraging others at the same time…well that feels like a good reason to keep going!
